Where can a voice take you? If the singer happens to be Susan Dunstan, the answer is simple: ANYWHERE! Blessed with a rare musical ability and a gift for connecting with an audience, Susan has won countless converts throughout her storied career as an entertainer.  Susan has spent the past 20 years on some of the most prestigious stages, playing lead roles in Tony award-winning musicals across Canada and the USA.

Along side of her theatre career, Susan runs BEACHES VOICE STUDIO, a private voice studio with locations in Toronto and Hamilton, teaching both her peers as well as those new to vocals the art and craft of singing.  Susan has also run an entertainment company that provides live music for both Private Functions  and Corporate Events for the past 10 years.

Susan has just returned back to Toronto after an exciting run as part of the Original Company of the Broadway hit Come From Away playing at the Schoenfeld Theatre in New York.  She was part of the amazing concerts in Gander Newfoundland as well as the out of town trial in Toronto before NY.

Susan made the big decision to transfer to the all new Canadian Company of the same show Come From Away, currently playing at the Royal Alex Theatre here in Toronto.  The Royal Alex is a familiar stomping ground, as before she left for Broadway, she was part of the amazing production of Kinky Boots which also had a very successful run in Toronto.

Prior Susan has spent  2 years in the United States on the road with the US National Tour (Gazelle) of Disney’s The Lion King, as well as the North American Premiere of Priscilla Queen of the Desert.  In Toronto, Susan was an original cast member of the World Premiere of the Lord Of The Rings at the Princess of Wales Theatre, where she provided specialty vocals.  The Princess of Wales Theatre was also home to the Canadian production of Disney’s The Lion King, where Susan spent almost 3 years in the role of Shenzi, the tough talking Hyena.

Massey Hall is another amazing theatre Susan has had the fortune to perform in with the all star cast of Annie Get Your Gun with Louise Pitre and Billy Ray Cyrus.  The Orillia Opera House was the backdrop for the classic musical South Pacific, where Susan played Bloody Mary, singing the famous Bali Hi.  The Charlottetown Festival was one of Susan’s favorite places to perform, where Susan originated the “Canada Girl” role in the Original Canadian Musical Somewhere In The World by Brian Hill and Neil Bartram.  She was also seen as the Handmaiden in Leslie Arden’s The Princess And The Handmaiden.

Being a part of shows that are being created it a special process. Susan has been lucky enough to be a part of the creation of some amazing musicals.  Ragtime (Livent) and Lou Lou and Bitter Girl (Banff Centre).

Recently Susan performed Bloody Mary for Drayton Entertainment’s production of South Pacific, which played at the Drayton Festival Theatre as well as Huron Country Playhouse in Grand Bend.

Susan has also sailed the world with Royal Caribbean Cruise Lines performing her own show, backed by a 16 piece orchestra, to packed houses of 2000 seats.  She has also been a part of their staged production shows in the past. Susan has opened for and sung with such legends as Mary Wilson of the  Supremes as well as the great Ben Vereen.
