THE SUSAN DUNSTAN JAZZ TRIO -
LATIN BAND -
STRING QUARTET
Whether you are getting married in a church, a country club or
in an outside garden, the music for your vows will tie your whole ceremony together.
If you are getting married in a church, there are many sections of the service that
you might like to have music for. The following is an example of the musical needs
of ceremony. Of course, we will tailor your ceremony to fit your individual needs.
Music for your guests as they arrive and are seated, starting 20 minutes before your ceremony begins.
Music for the seating of the parents.
Music for the bride's maids entrance.
Music for the Bride's entrance.
Music for any type of candle lighting.
Music for the Psalm.
Music for the signing of the register.
Music for the couple's exit.
Many couples are happy to find out that there are several sections of the
ceremony that instead of being read can be substituted for song. For example the Psalm.
You can have someone read the passage, or have the same message sung, based on the same
scripture. It is nice to have a change of pace with music during the service.
This
is particularly true in a Catholic wedding mass/ceremony. There are many sections that
are usually read that can be sung This is a longer ceremony, and music helps to piece
it together nicely. Please refer to the Weddings page under planning/faq, to see all
of the appropriate sections to be sung in a Catholic setting.
Two question are commonly asked by couples planning a Catholic Wedding.
The first. "Is the music going to sound old fashioned and very 'church' like?".
The answer is NO. The music can be as traditional
or as modern as you like. From a traditional selection like Ave Maria to a Modern Selection
like Time For Joy. There are many selections that are very modern sounding and are based on
scripture. There are examples of some of these songs in the clips section.
The second question.
"What if my church doesn't allow outside music, will I have to use the organ and
the church organist?"
The answer again is NO!
Many church's encourage couples to use their own organist and the church organ. Many modern
bride's are not happy with the prospect of organ music for their ceremony and would prefer a
less old fashioned sound. Most of the time when the church says you many not use outside music,
they do not want outsiders to use the organ. We skip that process by bringing our own keyboard
and therefore do not need to touch any of the church's instruments.
If you are having your wedding at a golf course, country club, restaurant, or any type
of outside venue, you have the freedom to choose any kind of music that you desire. We provide
and set up all the equipment you will need for this type of venue. ie. sound systems, electrical,
and instruments.
Most likely you will require similar musical selections as the non Catholic
service listed above. Often this type of wedding takes place at the same venue as the reception in
an 'all in one' style. Once your ceremony is finished, many couples have their photos taken and their
guests move to the reception area or a patio area for drinks and hors d'oeuvres. This leaves
around 1.5 hours of cocktail time until dinner is served. Many couples want some kind of music to
smooth this transition and often choose a Jazz Trio to add lively atmosphere to their cocktail party.
The Susan Dunstan Trio, is a great choice for this setting, as well for afternoon Champagne
Receptions, Engagement Parties, or any event that requires light, elegant music. Jazz standards like
IT HAD TO BE YOU, MOON RIVER, GIRL FROM IPANEMA, MOONDANCE , I CAN SEE CLEARLY NOW as well as some
modern favorites by Norah Jones and Dianna Krall are sure to keep your guests entertained.
You just need to let me know what kind of wedding you are having, and we can take it from there.
We can plan the style you want, and all of the details. If you desire something that is not offered
on this page, please call and many custom services can be accommodated for all kinds of live music.
I truly hope that you will consider choosing any one of my services for your wedding day.
I guarantee that you will receive nothing less then top quality music and service.

tradtional songs, light jazz music, show tunes and operatic extracts. And of course masterworks of the baroque, classical, and romantic eras.
While a string quartet is quite poplular, a string trio (violin, viola, cello), or duo (violin and either a viola or cello)
may be appropriate for smaller events where the performance space is limited. This is also an option if your budget does not stretch
to a full string quartet.
A string combination of any size will surely add a level of elegance, refinement and beauty to any specail occasion.
